Women seem to have the market cornered when it comes to plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery and skin care. Lately, beauty products are being “borrowed” from their wives. Lots of men have discovered that new technology and advanced products are just as beneficial for them as they are for the women they know. Men buy almost half of the skin care products available today, according to recent studies. Surgery is being considered by men now more than ever.
There is an increased interest for men in body shaping and enhancement surgery. There also seems to be an increased need for several of the options. Those options, such as liposuction and breast reduction surgery, have become more prevalent in the last few decades as Americans have seen an uprising in fast food consumption and increased laziness.
For men the top two types of surgery asked for by men is liposuction and rhinoplasty. Liposuction is the most popular, probably due to the fact that Americans are getting bigger and people want to be healthy. Men are no less likely to want to be in shape than women. They want wrinkle-free faces and sculpted bodies, too. After liposuction is rhinoplasty, which is also just as likely for men as it is for women, simply because no one wants a crooked or big nose.
Three and four on the list are eyelid surgery and breast reduction. This may come as a surprise to some but it shouldn’t. Eyelid surgery is often performed for people who have no crease in their eyelid (such as Asians). Conditions that affect the eyes are sometimes critical and surgery is actually needed to repair damage or reconstruct a deformity. Breast reduction is also more common in today’s world because of a condition known as gynecomastia, which causes breasts to grow on men. The reduction surgery is required in order to remove the feminine look they display.
