Halo Laser Treatment
Laser Treatment For Sun Damage and Aging Skin
Revitalized Skin with Halo Laser Treatment!
What is a HALO Laser Treatment?
Halo laser treatment is a skin resurfacing treatment designed to improve skin tone, texture, and overall appearance. The halo laser is a hybrid fractional laser combining the effective efforts of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. By using ablative and non-ablative wavelengths, halo laser treatment brings our patients a customizable solution to address specific concerns—yielding vibrant and revitalized skin.
Developed by Sciton, the Halo is widely regarded as the gold standard in hybrid fractional laser technology. At Profile MD in Severna Park, we’ve seen firsthand why patients from across the Baltimore area keep coming back for more treatments.
How Does The HALO Laser Work?
Ablative and non-ablative wavelengths accomplish separate treatment of the skin. The ablative wavelength targets and removes superficial damage from a patient’s complexion. The non-ablative wavelength ventures deeper, stimulating the regeneration of healthy tissue. The innovation of the Halo laser which uses each wavelength offers an effective solution to sun damage, broken capillaries, and other skin imperfections on the face, neck, legs, and chest.
The Halo laser technology allows our team to create a customized treatment revolving around the type of skin and specific concerns of our patients. Custom treatments could entail aggressively targeting certain areas, opting for fewer treatments, or favoring treatment with less downtime, granting our patients the utmost flexibility to tackle their beauty goals.

Who Is a Good Candidate for HALO Laser Treatment?
Halo laser treatment is an excellent option for patients concerned with age spots, wrinkles, and fine lines. With the enhanced improvement of dermal rejuvenation and restored health of the epidermal, halo laser treatment is above all for patients looking for great results with little downtime.
Patients across the Severna Park and greater Baltimore area come to Profile MD with all kinds of skin concerns, including years of sun exposure on the Chesapeake, post-pregnancy skin changes, or simply the gradual effects of time. Halo works across a wide range of skin tones and concerns, and our team will always walk you through whether it’s the right fit during your consultation.
How to Prepare for HALO Laser Treatment?
To prepare for your upcoming halo laser treatment, Profile MD recommends following these general guidelines:
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning for a couple of weeks before treatments.
- A week before treatment, avoid medications like aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, fish oils, vitamin E, and other blood thinners.
- Arrive at the appointment without makeup on.
While these are general guidelines, each patient has their own unique set of skin concerns. Consider consulting a skincare professional for personalized advice before undergoing halo laser treatment.
What is the HALO Laser Treatment Like?
Halo laser treatment at Profile MD starts with an initial consultation. The consultation includes an assessment of the skin’s texture and complexion. An open conversation about concerns and goals of the treatment will also be discussed. Consultation and assessment allow our team to curate a customized treatment plan to best fit the needs of the patient.
Before the treatment starts, we’ll apply a numbing cream to the targeted areas of the skin for comfort. Numbing of the skin can take up to 30 minutes. Once the skin is numbed and protective gear is fitted, the halo laser is applied simultaneously to the skin with a combination of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths.
Throughout the treatment, which takes between 20 and 60 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area, patients typically feel warmth or tingling sensations. Additionally, the laser device cools the skin in the process for added levels of comfort, making for a quick and well-tolerated treatment process.
What to Expect Post-Treatment
After the treatment is complete, it’s normal for patients to experience temporary redness, warmth, swelling, or “bronzing” of the skin. The effects typically last a few hours after the treatment; “bronzing” of the skin can stay around during the healing process.
You may notice tiny dark spots develop two to three days after the treatment. These dark spots are small pieces of tissue working their way out of the skin while new skin is being regenerated. Deeper and more aggressive treatment could lead to peeling which can last up to seven days on the face, or two to three weeks on the neck and chest. If the area becomes itchy, avoid scratching because it can lead to scarring and changes in pigmentation.
The day after treatment, apply moisturizing cream like Cetaphil twice a day—once in the morning and once in the evening daily. Avoid wearing makeup and sweating until the skin has fully healed. Lastly, avoid long periods of sun exposure or tanning for at least two months after treatment.
How Long Until I See Results?
Results of radiating skin often appear within a few days or a couple of weeks as the skin heals and regenerates. Improvements to the skin from a visual and texture standpoint will continue over time as collagen production increases.
How Long Will My Results Last?
With proper skin care and sun protection, the results of recent halo laser treatments can last for months and even years. For sustained results, consider scheduling follow-up treatments or maintenance sessions with Profile MD.
Which Treatments Pair Well With Halo Laser?
Halo is a powerful and well-rounded treatment on its own, but your results can go even further when combined thoughtfully with complementary treatments. Because we have one of the most comprehensive laser and aesthetic platforms in the Severna Park area, including four Sciton systems, our team can build a treatment plan that addresses your skin from multiple angles.
One of the most popular pairings with Halo is BBL Hero (BroadBand Light), Sciton’s broadband light therapy. While Halo focuses on resurfacing and textural improvement, BBL targets pigmentation, redness and vascular irregularities at the surface level. If you’re dealing with both sun damage and uneven texture, this pairing covers a lot of ground in fewer visits.
Injectables like Botox and dermal fillers address entirely different aspects of aging, making them a fitting complement for Halo when patients come to us with a certain range of skin concerns. Halo smooths texture and improves tone, while Botox relaxes dynamic wrinkles and dermal fillers restore lost volume. Many of our patients schedule their injectable appointments around their Halo treatments to maintain peak results consistently.
Medical-grade skincare is a more important factor in supporting your results from treatments like Halo than many people realize. Our team can recommend evidence-supported products that bolster the healing process and keep your results fresher for longer.
Not sure which combination is right for you? That’s exactly what a consultation is for. Our Severna Park team will look at your skin, listen to your goals and put together a realistic plan that works for you.
